Friday Night Lights

BUTLER (2-3) @ CRESSKILL (1-3)

Brian Kenney:  Last year Butler beat Cresskill by a point in the epitome of a barn burner, where the Bulldogs were down until the final quarter when Cris Verrico broke a 37 yard run for the deciding score.  My question, which Bulldog is going to pull off some heroics this year in another close one?  PICK: Bulldogs 17-16
George Muha:  Butler is going to face a feisty Cresskill team on the road.  But I am smelling something smooth brewing in the air and I have a feeling PJ Coffey will return a kickoff to the Big House for the Dawgs in a game-changing moment (no pressure big boy!).  PICK:  Butler 24-21

WEST MORRIS (4-1) @ MOUNT OLIVE (3-2)

Brian Kenney: Wow, the Pack dominated a good Randolph team last week, and is having a fantastic season (again).  Trevor Hillier was on fire against the Rams, running and throwing for 4 TDs.  The Pack’s Collin Leonhardt is looking to have another big game defensively, (last week he recorded 11 tackles and a sack) and will rack up another couple of sacks this week as well.  The Marauders won’t make it easy, however.  I see Hunter Perez scoring at least once on the ground while Adam DeCristofaro cleans up on defense with over a dozen tackles.  PICK: WMC 34-24
George Muha:  I sincerely hope big time colleges are paying attention to West Morris’ Stefano Montella?  This kid has been flatout outstanding on both sides of the ball.  He’s a legit scoring threat every time he touches the ball.  He’s my mid-season Player of the Year in Morris-Sussex right now.  I know this is a big rivalry game at the Ship with a lot of hype.  Sorry, I just don’t see any local team being able to tame the Wolves.  PICK:  ‘Pack 45-19

WALLKILL VALLEY (3-2) @ PEQUANNOCK (2-3)

Brian Kenney: The Panthers have some momentum going into this one, while the Valley had some issues with Boonton last week.  I think this one will go down to the wire, but I’m going to have to go with the Valley, as Dylan Bosner connects with Shane “Ted” Nugent for a score in the final seconds.  PICK: Valley 21-13
George Muha:  Pequannock QB David Rigoglioso and his weapons can be tricky when they get hot.  I won’t be surprised if they catch the Rangers on their heels.  But I am giving the edge to Wallkill and their three-headed rushing attack of Nugent, Lorencovitz & McMillian, but not by much.  PICK:  WV 28-21
